This is not a happy post - you are forewarned
As you go along your day today, keep all of life in perspective
and give your families HUGE hugs and tell them you love them.
Life can change in the blink of an eye.
This week I had to attend funeral for a 45 year old amazing man who leaves behind a good friend of mine and two beautiful young boys. He was out riding his bike, as simple as could be, and a young woman of 33 came along in her car and hit him. He died at the scene.
The ironic part... he is a daredevil, risk taker, fast everything kind of person and he is taken out by getting hit by someone else while riding his bike completely normally. I am devastated. My friend is a wreck to say the least. It was one of the hardest things I have had to do - I tried to console her at the funeral home but it was not possible. She was shaking so hard and everyone was just lost. There were four men who talked at the funeral and they all cried so hard - I have never seen men so vulnerable. Such a sad sad time.
To add to the devastation it was determined today that the driver was drunk and so much more. She was charged with homicide by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or injury while not properly licensed, DUI while blood-alcohol was greater than 0.16 percent (twice the legal limit for intoxication), recklessly endangering another person and reckless driving, according to records. She was sent to prison in lieu of $3 million bail. This is horrible. Such a waste of both lives. I beg of you to NEVER drive under the influence of anything.
So please be sure your family knows how much you love them every day. Squeeze them extra hard today and if you have a moment, please offer up a prayer or good thought for my friend and her family.
