Doctor Who quote

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and... bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things."

Day of Delirium #263 - Stopping Time

Blogging Challenge: You’re able to stop time at any point in your past…where do you stop time?

Any time before the Internet, cell phones, technology that links the world. While that technology has given me friends across this world and I am forever grateful for that, I am also saddened at how that same technology hurts so many.

I miss when you wrote letters and cards to your family and friends. I miss when news took time to travel. I miss when you could trust newscasters. I miss when you only had the newspaper or the one local TV station to watch for your weather and news. I miss when you had slide shows to share you vacation photos. I miss kids walking to their friend's houses to see if they could come out to play and not just meeting on the Internet to chat.

I miss when we didn't know everything… everything about the earth, the skies, the universe, religions, humans, animals. Well we still don't know everything but we certainly act like it and with technology we feel the need to share all our thoughts with each other. There is something to be said for "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all." Thumper in 'Bambi' (ironically I had to use the Internet to look up this quote to get it correct and who said it.)

Day of Delirium #262 - Someone Missing?

This week's blog post challenge: Is there someone who was in your life that you miss?

At first I thought this would be about missing someone who passed away in my life but when I re-read the question tonight, I realized that it might mean missing someone who is no longer in my life not due to death. That might be much more interesting to think about. It is quite easy to think of people I miss due to death. It is much harder to think of people I miss due to other circumstances.

This surprisingly took some time to think about.

I had a friend at work named Lara. She truly was like a sister to me. We talked every day. We supported each other in ways I had never known before. We had similar families and lives. She listened to all my problems, all my stories and never judged or laughed and I did the same for her. We went through many things together but we couldn't make it past her leaving the company. Mind you her leaving wasn't the actual issue but the way she did it and the reason she did it were. There is no reason to post about that here but I will say I do miss her and her friendship.

Day of Delirium #261 - Blogging Challenge Week 2

Challenge: Write about a cause you’re passionate about.

I am passionate about ending cancer. I have being a supporter of the American Cancer Society for as long as I have been able to make donations. In 2005, I unfortunately added an annual March donation in memoriam to my father who died due to cancer. Too many people are affected by this disease and any little thing I can do to help find a way to end it I am willing to do it.

In honor of my father and this post, I will give the American Cancer Society $5 for each comment I receive on this post. So please share your stories so I can make a nice donation to the American Cancer Society.

Day of Delirium #260 - Start of 2015 Blogging Challenge

My good friend April of http://www.landofstarrynights.com asked if I was going to a weekly blogging challenge this year. At first I was sure I wouldn't but then today hit and I felt differently. I tried to look up some challenges but really did not understand what they wanted from me. So April has kindly offered to post her weekly challenge for me and I can use those. Phew, thank goodness for good friends. The best part of this set up then is that it will in return help her stay the course as now I am depending on her to post the weekly challenge - I hope she realizes the pressure I just put on her :)

Anyway, this week's challenge post is:

What does your child do that drives you crazy?

Well since I do not have children of the human kind but of the cat kind, I feel I can still answer this.

I have two orange 11 year old furry boys, Milo and Otis. They are my heart and I love them as though they were children. But as with any child, they have their moments of crazy.

Otis has a need to talk to us… at 5:30am every morning. At first we thought he wanted more food, but no. Then we thought his litter was dirty, but no. Then we thought he was in distress, but no. We have no idea why he does it so we just wake up, acknowledge him and wait for it to pass.

Milo likes to request his 5pm weekend dinner …. starting at 2pm. While it is pretty cute the way he stretches out his paw to ask for food, it is just a little annoying. He knows what time dinner is and he knows what time it is but he still tries every weekend to get his dinner starting at 2pm.

These luckily are not too over the top crazy and I wouldn't trade my boys for anything.
