Doctor Who quote

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and... bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things."

Day of Delirium #193 - Front Yard Redo

Happily, wonderfully, we have a new front yard.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Our memorial to my father-in-law:

The chime was from his wake and on it is written The Lord's Prayer.
The sign on the porch is a Railroad Crossing sign from Pittsburgh PA.
My father-in-law was a major train enthusiast.

Lastly, we have a tractor. Let's just say my hubby has a very understanding wife.
My father-in-law always wanted a tractor in his front yard. Now he wanted a real one and there is no room at our place for that. But we did find this great kids pedal tractor at a flea market and the trailer on eBay. I plan to put Forget-Me-Nots in the trailer for spring/summer which is my father-in-law's birthday and passing time. Then pumpkins for the fall and something fun for winter/Holidays. I actually love it and it fits our home perfectly.

Day of Delirium #192 - Cutest Comic Con Cosplay

You may or may not know that we have two stuffed monkeys that travel around with us and have their own Twitters and blogs (tumblr). We have @TravelingMocha and @SkepticalGeorge and if you want to enjoy some cuteness in your timeline feel free to follow along.

So the last post was all about my cosplay at last year's Comic Con, well we knew we wanted Mocha to also cosplay along with us. So we enlisted the wonderful and talented RedBella to make us some outfits for Mocha. When I sent her our ideas I had no idea what we had in store. To say I cried when I opened the box and saw her handmade outfits in the box, would be an understatement. RedBella is beyond amazing and we can not thank her enough for all she did to make our Comic Con adventure even more fun last year.

On to the pictures!!

We employed a Mocha stunt double to travel to Canada and be fitted for the outfits.
Here is original Mocha (right) opening the box and freeing the stunt double.

George was so excited that there was something in the box that fit him.

Dueling fezzes.

Mocha showing off his Captain Malcolm Reynold's real leather coat from Firefly/Serenity.

Forget Captain America, we have Captain Mocha!!

The Pièce de résistance Mocha as the Eleventh Doctor from Doctor Who - complete with his own sonic screwdriver. RedBella was so brilliant that she included a piece of metal inside the sonic screwdriver so it would adhere to Mocha's magnet in his hand! RedBella ROCKS!!!!

Our funny extra. My hubby went to Penn State so he has a jersey with a 1 on it, and I have a jersey with a 2 on it as Penn State is one of my favorite football teams. So Mocha has a #3.
Additionally RedBella made a brown #3 jersey for Mocha for my alma mater Lehigh and I have a jersey with 1 on it and my hubby has a jersey with a 2 on it.

Mocha's own Timmy shirt from thinkgeek

With this shirt for Mocha and the shirt off the real Timmy's back for George we were able to do a thinkgeek family photo with the real Timmy during Comic Con. It's one of my favorite photos of our family.

Additionally there is a full velvet Santa suit, a Bazinga shirt and a Mocha Monkey shirt.

Mocha was beyond thrilled and the amount of compliments he received was beyond belief.

Thank you RedBella! We love you!!

Day of Delirium #191 - San Diego Comic Con 2012 Cosplay

So last year hubby and I headed back to San Diego for Comic Con. It was going to be our second trip and after the first year seeing lots of people dressed in costume we decided we would so the same and cosplay this year during the 4 days of the Con. We were really excited and spent lots of time shopping thrift stores trying to find just the right items.

As you may know I had dyed my hair red last year and I was very excited to play 3 of my favorite red heads or gingers:

Agent Scully from the X-Files

Based on this picture.

I even had her badge thanks to my hubby who is a little obsessed with Gillian Anderson who portrayed Agent Scully. I even had my picture taken twice while in this cosplay AND was asked numerous times if I was real FBI. I was even told I was the only Agent Scully the one person had ever seen at SDCC and she had been coming for years.

Then it was on to Doctor Who and his current companion at the time, Amy Pond.

Based on this picture. I even found the small gold initial A for a necklace.

And another Doctor Who character, River Song, played by one of my favorite actresses, Alex Kingston.

Based on this picture.

I love that these outfits were all regular outfits and most of it was already in my wardrobe.
I also love that these outfits and the one below are not provocative as so many women like to wear at the Con. It's just not my thing and perhaps this is also why I like these characters so much.

The last cosplay was my favorite...

Firefly/Serenity's Zoe Washburne

Gina Torres is phenomenal and to be able to portray one of her characters just means the world to me.

People always ask why someone cosplays or why they chose what they do.
For me, it was choosing women who I look up to. Who embrace being strong females. Who are tough but loving. They all love their friends and families and would do what ever was needed to protect them. I like to think of myself like that so it seemed appropriate to portray these characters.

Day of Delirium #190 - TwiFicMeetUp Las Vegas 2012

With only 12 days until the 2013 TwiFicMeetUp in Chicago (that I will be at), I bring you my post about last year's MeetUp in Vegas.

DangrMomma couldn't have been happier that the first TwiFicMeetUp was going to be in Las Vegas. We love Vegas. From the slots, to the people watching, to the shopping, to the food, to the fun, to the great rooms, we just love Vegas. And the bonus for me was that many of my Twilight friends would be there too!

The MeetUp was at the Monte Carlo and except for some power outage issues at the hotel during check in, we had no problems and thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Pictures!

The hotel - it was July and pretty darn hot but for the first time in my life I actually said "but it's a dry heat." and meant it. I was probably just happy to be in Vegas with my friends ;)

Our views from our room

One of our favorite spots, the Bellagio Conservatory. So beautiful.

These are all flowers!

My favorite part, the carousel - both during the day and at night. Just gorgeous.

Mon Ami Gabi in Paris. Gluten Free heaven!
Why yes that is gluten free homemade bread on my plate. Yum

DangrMomma enjoying our view...

... of the Bellagio fountains that are right across the street from Mon Ami Gabi!

The very appropriate ad right outside the Monte Carlo. It's a vampire with Very Important Pajamas.

The Strip!

Amazing show! Although we saw one of the last shows for it. It was wonderful to hear Elvis's voice like I was at his concert. I would love to see it again.

The following are a few pics from the actual MeetUp. I didn't take too many pictures as I was busy meeting people and listening to all the information. Being I only read and honestly not nearly as much as I used to, I was a little out of my league but I really enjoyed meeting new people.

Then it was our last day in Vegas.

We visited every M life casino in Vegas but of course our favorite might have been Treasure Island. Because thanks to the pirates, we won $50!!!! Woot!

I had to post this picture as it is one of my favorites. It's TravelingMocha and DangrMomma enjoying their last day in Vegas while watching the fountain outside the Monte Carlo. I just find the picture so sweet.

Me and ChyeLin - miss you sweetie

Saying goodbye to the Strip

Bye Las Vegas! Thanks for a great trip!
