Well, due to me actually going bonkers in real life there will be no Going Bonkers post this Tuesday (as in yesterday) or next Tuesday. Although next Tuesday has a better excuse than yesterday. This Friday, I will be heading out to see a mouse about a vacation in Florida. My hubby and I are flying to Disney World in Orlando, the site of our February honeymoon 10 years ago, to celebrate our wedding anniversary finally. We were supposed to go in February but due to not really being in the mood to celebrate our anniversary, we didn't go. Now things are better and we are ready to go and celebrate. I can't wait for some time to relax and not take care of the cats, the house or work. Ahhhhh
I will admit, though, that I am really going to miss all of you. I am not kidding. I keep picturing myself in Disney and thinking about what all is going on in Twitardia and how I don't want to miss anything. I don't think I will be taking my computer as I don't think I will have to time to check in on everything. But I keep reminding myself that after my last vacation it took me 3 days to catch up. So either no one writes anything for the next 7 days OR I will have to try and check in every so often from somewhere. I can check some things on my phone (thank you to TwilightCupcake) but it isn't as simple as I would like it to be. I can check email so please email me any important information for sure (Nibbles, I am looking at you as I want to know when you are up and around again) and I will do my best to come back refreshed and with lots of stories to tell.
TongueTwied also gave me a great idea for a post in an email she sent to me and it should keep me thinking of you all while I am away. I won't ruin the surprise but it should be fun. I hope you will all take care of yourselves while I am away. Please be sure to check out all the awesome blogs on my blog roll to the right - there are some pretty amazing people to find there.
Be safe and know I love you.
Mwah,
Dangrdafne
P.S. Don't forget to play Fact or Crap with TigerlilyRose! I recently won my new badge that is posted on the right of my blog! You too can have one of these awesome badges if you play.
Doctor Who quote
"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and... bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things."

Day of delirium #19 - Full Cooperation
Going Bonkers article: Full Cooperation - How to Bring out the Best in Others by Marta Hiatt, Ph.D.
Wow, I need this article right now. Names changed to those you know in order to protect the fictional people.
Dangrdafne's hubby has a habit of frequently tossing his dirty socks NEXT to the laundry basket and not in it. The socks (not pictured above) usually land on the floor and stay there until Dangrdafne comes in the room, screams to herself and picks up the socks to put them in the basket. Dangrdafne has mentioned this issue numerous times to her hubby but it has not changed. What is Dangrdafne to do?
Well a simply behavior modification technique is all that is required. A what?
Here is the example: Dangrdafne is to stop mentioning (ok nagging) her hubby about this situation and continue to pick up the socks. BUT on the days when her hubby actually puts the socks in the basket, she quickly and positively must reinforce the behavior by saying "I really like it when you put your socks right inside the basket." and follow the statement with a hug. We can be pretty certain that within a few days the hubby will be putting his socks in the basket every time.
Behavior modification techniques like this can be used with anyone. Most of the time the people don't even know you are doing it. Basically, behavior that is rewarded, affirmed, acknowledged is repeated but behaviors that are ignored usually diminish or disappear. The saying, "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar" is what rings true here. Nagging... although fun... ok not really... is just not going to work. All Dangrdafne needs is some patience and some emotional control to do her part to achieve the desired results.
What does Dangrdafne have to say about this? I admit I find it so hard to be positive instead of negative in these situations. I absolutely know that I can get more with honey but I am so stubborn most of the time. I apparently would rather complain than have harmony. I create my own non-cooperation by not following this technique. I WILL change this TODAY!
Here are some other examples of this behavior modification for your partner, your kids, your boss and your neighbors:
Your partner:
Using the sock example from my life, I can assume (ok I know it to be true) that my hubby learned from his mother that it didn't matter if his socks were in the basket or not, because he still received the reward of having his socks picked up and washed. He received positive reinforcement and never learned this behavior was not positive. Then later, when we got married and I nagged him about the situation he STILL got the same reward, I picked up the socks and washed them. And yes, I did try the whole leaving the socks to see if he would ever pick them up but that didn't work and the cats would end up playing with the socks and taking them, so they had to be picked up. So hubby had no motivation to unlearn the behavior.
I must also implement this piece too: You want more romance/attention in your relationship? Statements like "We don't make love often enough" or "I want more affection" are only going to get a negative reaction and will not lead to what you want. If you instead try "I love it when you're affectionate with me" or "I love it when you do X." or "It makes me feel closer to you when we snuggle on the couch" you are offering a direction for your partner to follow and positive information. It is very easy to fall into the nagging pattern, just ask Mr. Dangrdafne. So it is time to take a positive approach and have some positive results.
The kids:
When dealing with children, attention is the most important reward to a child even if it is negative attention (crafty buggers). A child would rather be punished and receive negative attention than be ignored because it means they had an affect on the parent. If Otis throws a temper tantrum at the market because he wants a toy and to make him stop you purchase the toy, what has Otis learned? If I throw a tantrum, I get what I want. Now the article this time does not offer a what to do instead so if anyone has ideas as to how to thwart a tantrum, please let us know in the comments. I am sure there are many who have some great ideas.
I have no children and possibly no right to offer anything here but I am going to try. I know would want to leave the market until the child calms down (although I realize this causes hardship for the parent and not getting an errand done), explaining that they are not getting a toy especially if they throw a tantrum and offer something else in return for good behavior - a game of cards with me when we get home maybe. Perhaps even offering to get the toy but I would have to make sure I don't create the "if I am always good I will always get something." My child shouldn't think they will be paid for doing something that which is required. This is a tough one readers, please help.
Your Boss:
Suppose your boss never notices all the work you have to do in a day and keeps handing you even more and you feel overwhelmed. You can't complain as you don't want to appear to not be hard working or able to handle the work. So what can you do? Any day that goes by that your boss doesn't give you more to do (let's hope that actually happens) make sure to tell your boss that you appreciate having the break to catch up with everything you have to do because it helps make you more efficient. Praising your boss for doing something your boss wasn't even aware of, your boss most likely will be more sensitive to this in the future.
Your Neighbors:
It is 1 a.m. and the dog next door is outside barking, again. While you may want to run over and bang on the door screaming at them, I would be afraid they might set the dog on you. The better response would be to go over in the morning and point out that, except for the last few nights, you have appreciated how quiet the dog has been. Tell them they are good neighbors (which I hope they are) and if there is any way they could keep the dog inside at night so you can sleep it would be appreciated.
Think about your own responses to interactions with others, do you not respond better to positive interaction instead of negative? Wouldn't you rather hear "Honey, I really like it when you hold my hand when we go for a walk. I miss the closeness." than "How come you never hold my hand, do you not like me any more?" Now maybe it is the case that you don't like your hubby any more but if you realize that your partner is missing the closeness then maybe it can be the start of a positive conversation rather than a negative one of you listing why you don't like your hubby.
I hope you can implement this behavior modification where it might be needed in your life and it will lead to a happier life for you. If I can help in any way, please let me know.

This is certainly not the outcome we are seeking ;)

Day of delirium #18 - Great people born this day!
Ok, so there is really only one great person that I care about with all my heart that was born on this day DangrDonna!!!!
And the greatest part of this day... she is turning 40!!!!
She is joining me in a new decade and we are ready to go.
My favorite DangrDonna story ever is when we first became friends in Junior High School we used to walk home from school together and throw tree bark at each other (who knows why but it was fun). Well I was a year older in school than Dangrdonna so I ended up going to High School without her for my first year. The next year, though, when she came to High School and we reconnected she asked me one day, "Can we be friends until we're 80?" My first thought was wow this person wants to be my friend for the long haul. Then I thought I want that too. So DangrDonna and I started out on our lifelong friendship.
She is my little sister and we have been through lots of "fun" together. We have the type of friendship that even if we don't talk for a month or so, we just pick right up like no time has passed. We don't hold grudges with each other and I can't recall any fights or anything. We just get each other and we are both willing to invest in each other to keep this friendship intact.
So when I sent her a very sappy birthday card because that is what I do, I wrote in it "Well we are half way to our goal of being friends until we are 80!" I thought there was no better way to celebrate my best friend's birthday than with the reminder that time is passing but we are still here for each other.
DangrDonna, I love you and I truly hope all your birthday wishes come true!!
Thank you for being my best friend, little sister, confidant and FFOORRKKSS buddy.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
P.S. Since one of my other favorite things about DangrDonna is her laugh, make sure you check out http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/ in honor of her birthday and be prepared to be astounded by both hilariously messed up cakes (make sure you read the captions) and some extremely gorgeous cakes. Although the wrecks far outweigh the beauties here, it is what makes the site just awesome. Please note: I am not responsible for any bodily harm that may come from laughing at the cake wrecks on this site :) Enjoy

Day of delirium #17 - No Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda!
Going Bonkers article #3 - No Regrets! How to Leave the Past Behind by Larina Kase PsyD, MBA
There are seven common causes of regret:
1. Acts you committed, but wish you hadn't.
2. Acts you didn't commit, but wish you had.
3. Acts others committed, that in some way, you feel responsibility for.
4. Acts others didn't commit, that in some way, you feel responsibility for.
5. Acts of fate or circumstances, that in some way, you feel you could have changed.
6. Inevitable losses, that in some way, you feel you could have prevented.
7. Comparisons that you make, where you don't measure up.
Luckily there are numerous ways to deal with regret and get rid of it from your life.
A. Take Action
Not taking action is the number one cause of regret and I am sure we have all been there. One might regret that they didn't go to see Rob Pattinson at the Remember Me premiere that was near their home. While this is a valid regret, how can you get rid of it from your life? Take action and the next time there is a premier that he will be at near your home, attend it. Or realize that you can do without seeing him at a premier because you don't want to deal with all the people that would be there and let it go as a regret, as you realize you might not have enjoyed it with all the people screaming for him there anyway.
B. Make Friends with Failure
I am sure many of you are saying "I am such good friends with failure and that is my problem." but that it not what this item is saying. It is saying listen to your failure as you would a friend and learn from it. See the failure as a way to get to where you want to end up. I think the easiest example is a failed relationship. While you might view it as a failure there is much to learn from this and use towards your next relationship.
I was in a long term relationship, when I went away for a summer to work. While I was away I made some decisions about this relationship and decided that I no longer wanted to pursue it. When I called to break it off, as I wanted to do it before I arrived home to give him time to prepare and deal on his own with it, he of course called me some bad names and didn't understand. We were both very upset but failing in this relationship showed both of us what we really wanted in a relationship. He wanted children and I didn't and his next relationship led him to having children. If we had stayed together that may never have happened for him. I felt smothered in the relationship and like I was always competing with him and I realized I needed some one more independent and secure in themselves and I found that and it works much better for me. So while we failed together, we used the information from the failure to help us move on and find what we really wanted the next time around.
C. Train Your Brain
You can choose not to live in regret. Sounds simple, right? It isn't and each person is different when it comes to this one. For me, I have found simple regrets do me no good, so I let them go. But sometimes I hold on to certain items and for those I tell myself that they are waiting for the right moment to teach me something and that moment has not appeared yet.
D. Don't "Should" on Yourself
Ohhh this is the one that does me in. I never viewed it as regret but after reading this article I see that it is. I am a 'shoulda' extraordinaire. I constantly should have done something, said something, did something different. My only saving grace is that when I met my now hubby he was working on this aspect in his life and he taught me that it does not get me anywhere BUT that I can use it to fix my future. If I say I should have went to the premiere to see Rob and I still want to the next time around, then I go, no questions asked. I work very hard to only should of once. The article offers that you should (needed one here) write down all the times you "should of" during a week. Then go back and question the should ofs. If you say "I should have known this post would take longer than expected" I have to question that and ask myself how would I have known that. I can't just accept that I should have known and since I couldn't have known, so the next time I won't should of it.
E. Focus Forward
Best advice and some of the hardest again - Focus on what you what and where you want to go and not on the past. If you aren't learning from your mistakes then either you will wallow in them or you will decide to let them go and move forward in your life. Visualizing your goal is the best way to achieve your goal. If I am afraid to give a presentation at my office because once I messed one up, I just visualize myself preparing the speech, giving the speech and then hearing the applause (because you know it would be awesome) and maybe even seeing a standing ovation (just kidding) but doing this has helped me be able to give presentations again and perform them at a higher level. I have never actually had a standing ovation but that's ok as they are always better in my head anyway ;)
F. No Second Guessing
Many of our regrets can be released just on the basis that we didn't have the information at the time and that hindsight is 20/20. If I invest in a stock and it doesn't do well, will I regret it? Yes most likely but if I remind myself that I researched it extensively and that I have no control over the stock market, then I need to release the regret as I did all I could with the information I had at the time.
G. Could You Really Have Done Better?
The crux of it all. There are three parts to this action 1) Recognize that the world is not perfect, 2) Learn to accept that you did the best you could with the information you had and 3) Determine whether it really is true that you could have done better, and if so, how can you better prepare for the next time? This seems to pull all the above information into one spot. I used to jump the Long Jump in high school for our track team. I rarely placed but one time I came in the dreaded fourth place, just out of the rankings. And worse I came in fourth by 1/2 an inch. Oooohhh that was hard to deal with. If only I had practiced the day before and just run a little faster down the runway during the meet maybe I would have made up the 1/2 inch. To put this situation into perspective following #1: if I could have had a perfect practice the day before, slept for 9 hours and eaten perfectly maybe then I could have jumped that 1/2 inch more and came in 3rd. But life is life and I lived it the best I could. For #2: I trained as much as I could and followed my coach's training so could I really have done better? Perhaps I did the best I could with the skills I have. For #3: I most likely did the best my skill set would allow for that day, now the next time I will implement something else and see if that can put me into third place for the next meet. Then I also thought, I came in 4th place out of 20 athletes and while 4th place is out of the rankings, 4th out of 20 is pretty darn good. I decided to be proud of that accomplishment and not regret missing the rankings. And maybe you think that is not true as I easily recreated this story for this post, I truly don't regret it BUT I don't forget it. I retain it so I can use it for future reference if I need it and I do pull it out often.
Lastly, remember most regrets come from NOT doing something or saying something, so for just one day, DO IT. Do the thing you are most scared of, say something you might not normally say and when you get to the end of the day without a regret, rejoice in it.
So what are your regrets? And if they are affecting your life negatively, then how can we get you past them? Let me know in the comments or in a private email if you would rather to dangrdafne@gmail.com

Day of delirium #16 - Is anybody out there?
Living With Edward and I recently found out that we live very close to each other here in Pennsylvania. So we are going to get together for the Eclipse movie and we want to know if you want to come along with us for the fun!
We are looking to put together a Twihard gathering for the midnight release of Eclipse. We are looking for Twihards in eastern Pennsylvania and/or western New Jersey. Primarily the Lehigh Valley area, Bucks county area, Phillipsburg, NJ area, possibly Hunterdon county NJ, or any other area surrounding said places. If you would like to attend from further away you are more than welcome and I am sure we could help with finding local accommodations for you.
At this time we do not have a specific city or theater to meet. We want to figure out where most of you would be traveling from and then pick the most convenient venue for everyone. We might not be able to accommodate every one's travel needs but we're pretty sure we can come close.
If you are interested, please let me know in the comments or email me at dangrdafne@gmail.com or email Living With Edward at livingwithedward@yahoo.com. Just tell us who you are, where you are located and how far you are willing to drive or fly to hang with us.
Also if any of you with your own blogs could help us out by spreading the word, we would appreciate it. If you could just put a link to this post or Living With Edward's post in one of your up coming posts, that would be great. Thank you in advance!
P.S. Most of the post plagiarized from Living With Edward but all for a good cause :)

Day of delirium #15 - I'm back
Well I am finally back and caught up on all the blog posts that were written while I was gone. Phew there was a lot to go through but it was worth every second of the three days it took me :) You ladies have lots of great things to say!
So Dangrmomma and I went to Atlantic City, New Jersey for 5 nights/6 days and we had a great time. I was still fairly ill for Friday and Saturday but on Sunday I could finally breathe and I felt almost normal again. My illness only really affected us on Friday and it was an early night but that was ok as we were both pretty tired and we had a nice room to come back to for the night. We stayed at the Tropicana for Friday and Saturday nights, then we moved to Bally's (for my free nights) for Sunday and Monday nights and then to Borgata for our final night on Tuesday.
We love the Tropicana for the atmosphere. There is a section called The Quarter where you can shop and eat at all different kinds of places. It is set up like it is outside and it is just a really great place to sit and watch the people as we did for a few hours on Saturday night. We had a really nice room and a we found some new fun machines.
Bally's even though older, is our favorite place to stay because you can play in 3 separate casinos and shop at The Pier all without ever going outside. And since it has become the norm for there to be some huge horrid storm when Dangrmomma and I go to AC anymore, the weather was horrible during these days. It didn't stop us though. We ate well and did our favorite thing of sitting on the third floor of The Pier and watching the ocean while sitting in beach chairs in the sand .... while inside of course. I will try to show pictures below.
It was our first time staying at The Borgata and we loved it. We had a gorgeous room that overlooked the overflowing back bay and it was very calm casino actually. The best part was if you stay at The Borgata you have a special seating area called The Living Room which is behind glass and a security guarded door that you can only get in by showing you room card. It has huge comfy couches and chairs with tables that you can eat/drink at while watching the people walk throughout the casino floor. People watching may actually eclipse (yes I said it) the slot machines as our favorite thing to do in AC. We love checking out the clothes and the different kinds of people that are in the casino. We even make up stories for some of the people and just have a good time.
Overall I won about $40 every day we were there. The best was Tongue Twied sent me an email asking if I had won any Jackpots and at the time I had not. She must have been my good luck charm though as the final spin of my final slot machine lead to 3 jackpots on the pay line at 2 times and I won exactly $40! WOO HOO!!!! It was the perfect end to a perfect trip.
So here are the pictures I took while in AC with Mrs. P, tea and Mini-E (minus the Mrs. P ones as I will send them to her to post):

Honolulu Girl said she wished she could go with me... so I printed out her avi and took her along. Here she is overlooking the view from our room in Tropicana :) Hope you had fun!
Here is Mini-E trying to move in on Dangrmomma's breakfast that we got free from Starbucks for staying at the Tropicana. Actually I think Mini-E was enjoying the "poetry" on the bag.
Here is Mini-E taking in the view from our Tropicana room too.
Now we are at Bally's and this was the view from our room during the storm. Mini-E was feeling right at home with this weather. He thought he was back in FFOORRKKSS!!
Not wanting to miss out on the fun at the beach (actually inside The Pier) Mini-E buried himself in the sand. He thought it was fun although he didn't like the sand in his hair.
These are the beach chairs and sand that Dangrmomma and I like to sit in at The Pier while we watch the ocean. We were lucky we could see it this day, the weather was horrible.
Mini-E was thrilled when we found him a slot machine he could play (and that I wouldn't get arrested taking a picture of for him)! He didn't win anything but he had fun trying :)
My extra special find at It'Sugar - our favorite place to shop in AC (you have to go to the link to see Twi-Weasel. Who knew she did internet ads?) and we had a 20% off coupon! I took this picture without a flash and check out the next one with the flash to see what happened...
Jacob disappeared! LOL! I think Mini-E did something to make this happen, don't you?
Here is Mini-E trying to find something to eat at The Borgata. He was very sad to see that bear was not on the menu.
Tongue Twied also asked about the pictures I would be taking of Mini-E and Mrs. P and she came up with much better ideas that I could possibly do but I was inspired to at least have Mini-E check out the spa list to see what he might want to do while at The Borgata. He chose to just stay in the room for some reason.
Apparently he had set up a game of Hide and Seek with Mrs. P that I didn't know about until this picture. LOL
I know that Mini-E doesn't sleep but he was so overwhelmed with all the fun that he just wanted to rest for awhile and the bed was way comfy. Wonder what Mrs. P did to Mini-E to make him need a rest?? ;)
So there you have it. My trip to AC was wonderful but I am happy to be home, both my real home and my home in Twitardia.
