Doctor Who quote

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and... bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things."

Day of Delirium #307 - Childhood

BLOGGING PROMPT: Share a special story from your childhood.

My parents decided that the Christmas present that I most wanted would be given to me by my Uncle Walt each year. So when I wanted the special Nike sneakers with the purple swish on the side or when I wanted the tubby stuffed teddy bear or even when I wanted the cool striped pants with white blouse and very cool pink necklace, the presents came with "From: Uncle Walt". I always thought it was amazing that he gave me the exact present I wanted each year. I even named they bear Wally :)

It was years later when my mother told me that she would buy the gifts but then he would pay for them and she would put his name on the card. While some people could be upset by finding this out, I found it an incredible story about my parents. So many parents want to be the ones to give their children the best presents, the most, or whatever. But my parents wanted to be sure we have a full family experience. My Uncle Walt for sure is my favorite uncle and we had a very close relationship. That might not have happened if my parent's didn't set up this special situation. I appreciate my parents so much for being strong enough in their convictions and in their love of me that they would give up the extra excitement that my uncle got when I opened my special gifts each year.

Thank you Mom and Dad for showing me the most giving of hearts. I love you.
