Doctor Who quote

"The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and... bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things."

Day of Delirium #363 - Big travel news

Sooo I have big travel news for my life.

You may or may not know that my ancestry is almost all Polish. My Mother is 99% and I am 76% per ancestry.com.

And you may or may not know that I have always wanted to go to Poland to see my heritage.

Well that dream will come true this August. And it is completely kismet that it is happening.

Back in September when my sister and brother-in-law were at my Mom’s and someone called the cops on them parking their RV in front of my Mom’s house for “too long”, they had to move the RV. They called various places but the best offer was from 3 blocks up the street at The Polish National Church! They were allowed to park in their lot for free but of course they felt they should attend services and make some donations.

Wellll during one of the services, my sister picked up a piece of paper...a trip to Poland with the church!! She gave it to my Mom, who gave it to me and the rest is history. I asked a friend who goes to Poland almost every year if the trip sounded good and worth it and she said most definitely.

So in August, my Mother and I will be heading to Poland with the church group that so kindly helped out my sister and brother-in-law. I am beyond excited and I can’t wait to see my ancestral homeland.

What is your ancestry and have you been able to travel to see your ancestral home country?

I'm so excited for you and your mom! My ancestry is mostly Irish, and I have had the pleasure of traveling to Ireland several times. I have gotten to meet cousins, who I'm still in touch with thanks to social media. I took my mom so she could see where her father came from. We visited the family farm, which is still run by my family. She got to meet her 1st cousin!

Can't wait to see what you do and who you meet on your adventure!

Sally, that sounds amazing. I am not sure what family we still have in Poland but my Mom was going to try and find out. I will just be thrilled to actually see the country.

Nix, I can’t wait to share all about it :)
