I read something this morning but I can’t remember exactly what it said. It was something like, "One does not think the moment is important until it becomes a memory."
That is so true, especially this morning.
Last evening we lost Mr. Thomas, our cat of some fifteen years. Each morning, when we went in to use the bathroom he was always there to rub against our legs. This morning there was no one there to rub against our leg and now that moment has become important.
How many more instances will we let pass without giving them the respect and importance they deserve -- be it our families, our friends, or our beloved pets before they too become memories?"
-- Roger Dean Kiser (please note Mr. Thomas is his cat - not mine)
I do try and think about this every time Otis wants to sit in my lap but I definitely still need to work on it.
What do you want to make important before it becomes a memory?

DD, I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Thomas' passing. I know what you mean about how we don't stop to appreciate some of the ordinary moments in life until they're gone for good. The tagline to Remember me "Live in the moments" has stuck in my head so much that I swear I'm going to get a tattoo of it someday (once I've convinced my husband I'm not insane and am positive his head won't explode just by me mentioning it). XOXO
Very important to remember, indeed! Quato is 17 - 17! - and I try to always take time to hold her paw, rub her belly or sing her a song (yes, she has her own song). Some days I do better than others - I'm a work in progress lol...
unrelated but YOUR GOING TO BLOGHER?! YAY!!! : )
@TwiloveSue Excellent use of a Rob film to propel your life. I say just get the tattoo regardless of your hubby's reaction. Just my opinion :)
@STY - I would love to hear her song. That is sooo sweet. And yes, I am going to BlogHer :)
